Macs more-or-less fit in the same category as laptops as far as repair is concerned - they take a lot of effort to get into, the components are custom, and unless the hard drive or RAM is at fault you're better off getting a new one. Having said that - as with most machines - usually the hard drive is the first thing to go, and that is easily replaceable.
Whether or not you really need a Mac is a topic of some contentiousness, and I've expressed my own thoughts here. But also it pays to check that the issue isn't software-related first. In my own experience, Macs don't necessarily fail any less than PCs, but it depends on the PC and how well it was built.
RAM upgrades and the like are easy to achieve, and upgrading to a Solid State drive (SSD) can make all the difference in terms of your Mac's longevity and overall performance. Talk to me today if you've got any issues or there's anything you'd like to discuss:
