My standard rate is $80 per hour on-site with no travel fee within a 30km radius from Hamilton.
Jobs where the computer is dropped into and picked up from the workshop incur a lower fee of $70 per hour.
Payment is via cash or bank transfer, all prices are inclusive of GST.
Minimum charge is half an hour.
There is a $10 per hour discount for drop-into-workshop services and remote work (where I dial into your computer remotely via the internet).

Package Services

Upgrading from Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 to Windows 11 - $140

This service involves:

1. Checking the health of your hard drive.
2. Making a backup of the hard drive (I will keep this backup for 2 weeks just in case).
3. Upgrading your computer to Windows 11 and installing the latest updates (Windows 11 normally costs $200-$300).
4. Cleaning up and disabling the Windows 11 'telemetry' (spyware).
5. Changing settings so it acts a bit more like Windows 7/10 and is more familiar.
6. Basic post-install optimisation

This is a drop-off service, though I can pick up and drop back (dependent on your location) for an extra $30. Please allow up to two days for the job to be completed.

Crossgrading from any version of Windows to Linux - $140

This involves:

1. Checking the health of your hard drive.
2. Making a backup of the hard drive (I will keep this backup for 2 weeks just in case).
3. Installing linux (the distribution I use is called Xubuntu, but if you have a preferred distribution I will use that)
4. Copying your data back on.

This is a drop-off service, though I can pick up and drop back (dependent on your location) for an extra $30. Please allow up to two days for the job to be completed.
Please be aware, Linux is not like Windows, some programs such as Microsoft Office will not run on it. There are however many free alternatives to commercial packages available on linux.

Upgrade hard drive to solid state drive (SSD) - $120 + SSD cost (varies based on size and market prices)

This improves data access performance by at least 10x, meaning your computer gets a Lot faster! The process involves:

1. Purchasing the appropriate sized SSD.
2. Cloning old hard drive to SSD and reinstalling in computer

This is a drop-off service, though I can pick up and drop back (dependent on your location) for an extra $30.
Generally this will take a day to complete, however please allow up to two days depending on how slow the computer is.

Transfer of data and programs from one computer to another - $140

This involves:

1. Checking the health of your hard drive on the old computer.
2. Copying across bookmarks/favourites from the web browser on the old computer.
3. Copying data across.
4. Transferring software/licenses to the new computer, if possible.

In order to transfer old (paid) programs onto the new computer, you will need to have the relevant details for any active licenses you have.
For example, installation keys for older versions of Microsoft Office, or the account details for newer versions of Microsoft Office or Adobe suites.

General Checkup/Computer "Warrant of Fitness" - $120

This involves:

1. Checking the health of your hard drive, memory and CPU.
2. Cleanup and optimisation of operating system.
3. Checking for viruses/malware.
4. Defragment of computer (if applicable).

This is a drop-off service, though I can pick up and drop back (dependent on your location) for an extra $30.
Generally this will take a day to complete, however please allow up to two days depending on how slow the computer is.
Additional charges may be applicable if hardware is found to be faulty and needs to be replaced, for example, the cost of a new hard drive.

Note: All accounts are payable within two weeks following the date of invoice, outside of specific arrangements between myself and the client.
If an account is not paid within 3 weeks, and sufficient notice has been given by me, the account may be referred to a debt collection agency and they may charge you
